We currently have exciting opportunities for qualified Social Workers within our Adult Learning Disability Service to take the service to the next stage of our journey.

About Us

In April 2020 Buckinghamshire Council will become the UK’s newest council and the residents of Buckinghamshire will be served by a single, unitary council. About the role

As an experienced and senior worker some of your responsibilities will include the following:

  • To promote a strengths based approach with local community solutions
  • To uphold and improve standards of practice within the service
  • To provide advice and development through supervision; practice educator roles; coaching and observing practice
  • Leading areas of responsibility across the service
  • Interesting and diverse casework

About you

Most importantly you must share our values and behaviours.

We can train and guide you with learning new knowledge and skills.

As an experienced social worker:

  • You will be a registered social worker and have completed your ASYE  
  • You must be able to work in partnership with people with diverse needs, both service users, carers, colleagues and providers
  • You will be caring & collaborative; motivated & reliable; flexible & resilient
  • You will have the ability to organise your own time and work quickly.
  • You will be able to support, manage and organise others
  • You will have excellent observation, assessment and communication skills
  • You will be proactive in developing your knowledge and skills and sharing them

Other Information

We offer full and part time roles and some flexible working.

Induction:our induction takes place over 6 weeks and includes shadowing, e-learning, training courses, meeting with other relevant health professionals and visiting day services.

Training Opportunities: We pride ourselves on developing our staff and offer comprehensive training opportunities including PEPs, BIA, development in to specialist roles, DoLS and MCA, AT, presentation skills, and much more!

About the business unit

Our learning disability service is undergoing changes as well:

  • We have co-located half the team with our LD health colleagues
  • We want more people with a learning disability to have tenancies with the right level of support
  • We use a Strengths Based Approach to help people find worthwhile pastimes and make valuable contributions in their local communities, including both paid and voluntary work

To support you in your role we will provide you with access to the latest research and tools.   We have revamped our training for workers, to focus on the needs of the people we work with. Aside from resources you will have access to formal supervision and be part of a team that shares ideas and is dedicated to supporting each other.
