Day Residential Workers/Night Residential Workers
We are looking for Residential Workers for our new Children’s Home in High Wycombe who can provide a positive living experience for the resident young people by caring for their physical, emotional and social needs.
Salary: £20,664 - £26,148 per annum depending on previous experience and qualifications (plus enhancement for night working)
Ideally, although not essential, you should have a relevant qualification ( NNEB/ NVQ 3 in Care) and.experience of working in a social services related settings (including voluntary work).
As part of The Council’s Change for Children programme, we are embarking on introducing four new Children’s residential homes in Buckinghamshire.
Our residential homes will provide stable, effective placements for young people, including those with challenging behaviour – providing them with a safe, caring community in which they can learn how to build positive relationships
About the role
You will encourage and stimulate emotional and social growth by devising and organising out-of-school activities, encouraging the children/young people to socialise and to join organisations outside the Home.
In addition, you will work in partnership with families and carers of children, Social Workers and other outside agencies, as required.
You will be:
- Committed to working with children and young people aged 11 to 18 who present complex and challenging behaviours.
- Have appropriate knowledge and experience of working with children and committed to training.
- Creative and able to use your own initiative whilst working in a challenging environment.
- Enthusiastic and highly adaptable to changing circumstances.
In addition you should possess good written, IT and communication skills.
Day Residential Workers will work a shift rota system.

About the business unit
Significant progress has been made to improve our Children’s Services in Buckinghamshire. A new, permanent Senior Management Team arrived in April 2018 and is making the right changes to ensure we improve outcomes for vulnerable children and young people across the County.
OFSTED said during their last monitoring visit that‘The senior leadership team has a sound understanding of the improvements that are needed in children’s services and is steadfastly determined to improve the quality of services for children’
