About us

Our vision is simple. To make a real difference to the people and communities we serve. Now, and for the future.

Bucks About Us

This means safeguarding the vulnerable, creating opportunities, building self-reliance and keeping Buckinghamshire thriving and attractive.

Our local communities are at the heart of everything we do and they really rely on the work we do. Whether it’s new roads being built, helping parents get their children a school place or providing essential care and support to vulnerable children or elderly residents, we’re here to make a real difference to the people and communities we serve.

Take a look at our Strategic Plan which sets out our aims and priorities until 2020.

Unitary Decision Information

The Secretary of State, James Brokenshire, announced on 1st November that a brand new, single council for Buckinghamshire will be established on 1st April 2020.  Further details regarding the Minister’s decision are available here.  This is an exciting opportunity for all the councils in the county to come together to build a brand new council for Buckinghamshire, building on the best experience and expertise of the five current councils.  We are developing plans with our District Council colleagues supported by a programme of transformation work which will build a new Unitary Council that is ambitious in its outlook, provides Buckinghamshire residents with simpler ways to access services that they need, and makes best use of public money.  These changes will take a period of time to implement, if you would like more information about the new unitary authority please click here.

Be Ambitious

We want people with a strong desire and determination to succeed. Those who have a what-if and can-do approach to everything. Rethinking tomorrow takes guts. It takes someone who isn’t afraid of exploring all the options and possibilities. It takes enthusiasm and enjoyment of challenge.

Be Accountable

Our people take pride in owning actions and decisions. It’s all about using our resources wisely and recognising that the public money we use is all going towards a better future. We take care of our projects, from start to finish.

Be Caring

It goes without saying really. We’re people, working for people. Being caring, kind and supportive is intrinsic. Both within the organisation and out into the community. Keeping our people and our residents at the heart of all our decisions, we are passionate about the quality of our services.

Be Collaborative

Working in a team, sharing ideas and knowledge only means positive things. By creating more effective solutions together, we are able to deliver better outcomes to the county as a whole.
