Previously Looked After Children Education Support Worker (Virtual School)
The purpose of the job is to ensure that previously looked after children in Buckinghamshire receive the best possible support in their learning and development.
This is a part-time (3.5 days per week) fixed term contract opportunity until 31 March 2020.
Actual salary: £18,755 - £19,787 per annum.
Children in Care’ are children who are either on full care orders or accommodated on a voluntary basis with the local authority. They may live with foster carers or in children’s homes or occasionally in their own homes. They have the full range of abilities but may experience emotional and/or behavioural difficulties because of their early life experiences.
About the role
You will gain and maintain a sound knowledge of the individual PLAC children in Buckinghamshire’s care.
You will also be part of the final Personal Education Plan for each child as they leave care being aware of their learning needs and gaps.
You will have experience of working with vulnerable children with special educational needs. Most have suffered trauma and may have attachment issues.
You will be familiar with standard Child Protection and Safeworking policies such as those used in educational settings.
In addition, you will be familiar with the support available for young people particularly those with SEN.
