The opportunity

The Governors wish to appoint an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support children in their learning.

Contract type: Permanent

Location of role: Lower Street, Quainton, Nr Aylesbury HP22 4BJ

Full or Part-time: Part-Time 30 hours per week, 39 Weeks per year.

Potential start date: September 2018

Salary: Bucks Pay Range 1B (£15236- £17946) pro rata

About us

Quainton C of E Combined School is situated to the north of Aylesbury. It is a Church of England one form entry school for children aged 4 to 11. Situated in the centre of the village part of the school building dates back to Victorian times with modern additions for the classrooms. As well as grounds which include a field for sport we have the use of an adjoining orchard, allowing for varied outdoor teaching and learning opportunities.

About the role

We are looking for a colleague to work in a caring environment with well-motivated children.

Successful candidates will have a proven track record of building good relationships with children, supporting them and being able to enthuse and engage learners. They will be able to work confidently with groups of children. The role will involve the support of individuals and groups within and outside of the class setting, leading intervention groups, and assisting teachers in the assessment and planning of learning. A first aid qualification is desirable for this post, though not essential as training can be provided.

The successful candidate will aspire to develop professionally and actively engage in training and enriching their knowledge and skills in order to support children’s learning.

About you

  • GCSE level C or above in English and Maths
  • Experience of working with children.
  • Has a good standard of spoken and written English, and can also support maths and other areas of the curriculum
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to support individual pupils with programmes of work
  • Ability to work with a group of pupils
  • Awareness, understanding and commitment to child protection
  • Ability to work alongside teachers to plan and support teaching and learning activities
  • Demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities and inclusion
