About the role
You will be required to promptly deal with relevant aspects of waste management enforcement, in particular to control incidents of fly-tipping on public land and public highways, to control abuse of council controlled facilities by traders, investigate abuses and seek to make prosecutions.
You’ll be responsible for co-ordinating and undertaking enforcement investigations, providing authoritative professional advice, on enforcement matters, including fly-tipping, unauthorised encampments, and supporting others to undertake related work.
You’ll also work in partnership with stakeholders, including landowners, District and Parish Councils, Thames Valley Police, and the Environment Agency to ensure the effectiveness of action and approach on a case-by-case basis and proactively contribute to policy development, media campaigns and other publicity work, including social media work, press releases and other prevention strategies.
With knowledge of Fly-Tipping enforcement and/or Unauthorised Encampments management, you’ll have experience of negotiating with landowners, defendants & witnesses and other organisations at senior level to secure positive outcomes.
Educated to degree level is desirable or with equivalent experience, you’ll possess good organisational, planning, and ICT skills.
A professional qualification or equivalent together with membership or a relevant professional body would also be desirable.
Where our roles are customer-facing and you are required to speak to members of the public, the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the role.
