The opportunity

Taking care of Looked After Children is one of the most important jobs we have. So to make sure our arrangements are the very best they can be, we have an Independent Review Service that ensures best practice is applied at all times. As Team Manager, you’ll have a critical role to play in Service’s success.

About us

Quality Assurance work includes case audits across the county, raising standards and making sure Independent Reviewing Officers are doing an outstanding job. Under your leadership, the Service will not only meet statutory regulations, but also aim for continual improvement – helping our Looked After Children’s teams to improve too. At the same time, you’ll manage resources and workloads, making the most of the budget.

About the role

We are seeking an innovative and inspirational leader who can oversee and drive continuous improvement for our Independent Reviewing Service so that we consistently achieve good outcomes for looked after children. You will play a key role in ensuring that the right support is in place for children who are in the care of the local authority, that children’s voices are evident throughout their journey and the care planning process actively reflects the child’s needs and individual identity.

About you

You will have worked at a senior level in this specialist area before. You’re therefore an authority, with a good grasp of the partners involved and the political agenda. You’re also aware of developments in the Independent Review/Quality Assurance of Children’s Services, including legislation, procedures and initiatives. Now you’re ready to put this expertise to work in a challenging role where you can make a positive difference. You will have the credibility to build strong relationships, manage change, and lead partnership working. You’ll also be adept at carrying out complex risk assessments; managing staff and budgets; and developing policy, procedures and standards in a fast-evolving area. If you’re also an excellent planner and project manager, there could be a key role for you at the heart of a dedicated team.
