The opportunity

We are looking for a full time dynamic Public Health Practitioner.

About the role

In this role the post holder will work with the Public Health Principal to develop the strategic framework for their lead areas, and they will lead partners to develop and implement prevention work programmes. Lead areas may change to meet the business needs of the organisation but the focus of this post will be drugs and alcohol, and adult mental health/well-being. 

You will be part of a friendly and motivated public health team working to support the Council’s aspirations to improve the health and wellbeing of the local population and to put wellbeing at the heart of its business.

The post will be managed by an experienced Public Health Principal and be part of a team of Public Health Practitioners. We offer flexible working and opportunities for continuing professional development, including support to work towards registration on the UK Public Health Register as a Public Health Practitioner.

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who can take a proactive and innovative approach to driving progress and responding to challenges. You will need to have experience of public health related multi-agency working, and excellent organisational skills. A post-graduate level qualification in a public health related subject or at least three years’ experience in posts related to public health, either in a local authority, NHS or voluntary sector setting is essential. Strong project management, communication and influencing skills along with a working knowledge of local government or the NHS will be essential too.

This post will be full time (37 hours per week/5 days per week).
