Assistant Team Manager - First Steps

The role will involve joining a busy, fast paced First Steps Team whose paramount objective is always a child's wellbeing and safety.
About the role
We currently have two Assistant Team Manager vacancies in our First Step team. One role will oversee the recruitment of SGOs, family and friends and the other role will oversee the recruitment of new foster carers in Buckinghamshire.
Both roles will get involved in assisting the Team Manager to, manage and supervise a team of multi-disciplinary staff including qualified, experienced Social Workers. To support the Team Manager in ensuring all referrals are appropriately assessed, reviewed and acted upon within 3 days. To work closely with all units in ensuring cases are effectively transferred with appropriate risk assessments, priority status and initial recommendations. To ensure the team provide a professional and high quality guidance and advice service on matters concerning safeguarding children as required, providing this in a timely, collaborative and consistent manner, to both partners and service users.
Assist social workers to ensure cases not reaching the threshold for social care are given appropriate guidance or signposted as appropriate to other services.
To be responsible for the effective supervision of staff within the team, ensuring that supervision facilitates reflective practice and the development of high quality standards, linked to positive outcomes for children.
To make a great Assistant Team Manager, you’ll bring your experience and knowledge with you and be confident in undertaking the role. In this busy, fast paced team, you’ll get on best if you are flexible and able to work well under pressure.
You will have a minimum of 3 years post qualifying experience of working within a statutory environment with children and have extensive knowledge of the service area, partner relationships and wider sector / external influences.
Good planning and organisational skills. Change management skills in addressing barriers to development of service area.
You will also hold a degree in social work (DipSW) and registered with the HCPC.

You will also receive a Golden Hello payment of £2,125 upon your one year work anniversary; car allowances of £600 per annum (paid monthly), and a Relocation Allowance up to £8,000 (if applicable)*.
