Overview

Children’s services in Buckinghamshire are on a journey to delivering outstanding services. Children and their families are at the centre of everything we do. Building on the Strengthening Families model adopted for child protection conferences in 2016, we want to apply the latest skills and knowledge to achieve the best outcomes possible for the children we seek to protect and support. In conjunction with the University of Sheffield, we are keen to incorporate the key principles of the ‘Strengthening Families, Enhancing Futures’ to our services here in Buckinghamshire, to enhance and recognise what we already do. The model follows the following key imperatives: 1. Understanding the world of the child 2. Understanding the world of the adult(s) 3. Recognise family strengths as well as concerns 4. Engage families in the change process 5. Measure change through actions and interventions

About us

The Children in Care Service works in collaboration with the Children in Need Service to ensure that permanency can be achieved at the earliest opportunity, with the Children in Care units completing CPRs alongside the Children in Need units before transfer. The Children in Care service also work closely with Aftercare to ensure that young people have a smooth transition to adulthood, and referrals are made to Adults and Family Wellbeing where appropriate. The aim of the Children in Care Service is to achieve permanence for all children aged 0-18 years. The Children in Care Service completes assessments, care plans and Court work and undertakes all aspects associated with the looked after children’s process.

About the role

This Senior Practitioner role is challenging but rewarding and will see you co-ordinating and delivering a range of social work services to children within our Children in Care Team. To recognise the high demand for your skills the salary we currently offer includes a 6% market factor enhancement (Range 7 to Range 10 only). Additionally, you will receive a Golden Hello payment of £2125 (upon the successful completion of your first 12 months), a crucial to post car allowance of £300 per annum paid monthly, a safe haven car allowance of £300 per annum paid monthly, and a Relocation Allowance (if applicable) up to £8K. Please note this market factor enhancement is reviewed each year. The Golden Hello payment is paid pro rata for part time hours.

About you

To make a great Senior Practitioner, you’ll bring your experience and knowledge with you and be confident in undertaking the role. In this busy, fast paced team, you’ll get on best if you are flexible and able to work well under pressure. You will work closely with colleagues from various teams and build positive links between your team and other parts of the service to ensure effective multi-professional working. You will hold a degree in social work (DipSW) and registered with the HCPC. As well has holding the relevant qualifications, you will be able to work on own initiative and seek support and guidance as appropriate. You will have the desire to work flexibly in order to meet the demands of the role and have the ability to travel to a number of diverse locations across the County.
