About the role
You’ll act as the Principal Social Worker, championing the role of the social worker across the Council, with partners and strategic partnerships and communicating frontline experiences to senior managers and the wider Principal Social Worker network.
As Practice & Policy Manager, you’ll play a vital role in the strategy for Children’s Social Care. This will include advising on matters of social work practice and supporting Practice Improvement Managers/Operational Managers in raising standards and the quality of social work practice.
You’ll also support and promote the delivery of the quality assurance framework and ensure there are up to date policies and practice guidance in place.

You will be a qualified Social Worker, holding a DipSW or equivalent with HCPC registration and extensive post-qualification experience.
You’ll have a good understanding of children’s services and social care and learning. You will combine your expertise with the ability to manage change, think creatively and use your initiative to solve problems.

To recognise the high demand for your skills the salary we currently offer includes a 6% market factor enhancement (Range 7 to Range 10 only). Additionally, you will receive a Golden Hello payment of £2125 upon the successful completion of your probationary period, a crucial to post car allowance of £300 per annum paid monthly, and a Relocation Allowance (if applicable) up to £8K.
Please note this market factor enhancement is reviewed each year.
Golden Hello payment is paid pro rata for part time hours.
