Fractional English Tutor
Buckinghamshire Adult Learning is part of the Learning, Skills and Prevention Service, whose mission is: to provide inclusive learning opportunities that promotes well-being and inspires people living or working in Buckinghamshire to achieve their potential.
We are the main provider of part-time learning opportunities for adults in the county. The Service offers an advertised programme of taught courses and workshops from Entry Level to Level 4. We offer qualifications in areas such as English, Mathematics and English for Speakers of other Languages (ESOL), accounting (AAT) and a range of NVQs. We offer a wide range of non-accredited courses in creative studies, foreign languages, computing and health and fitness.
Approximately 8,000 learners each year access our programmes in around 140 locations across the county including dedicated Adult Learning Centres, school premises, community centres and employer premises. Programmes are available daytime, evening and weekends for most of the year. There are courses for parents and carers with their children arranged by the Family Learning team. We work with employers, both large and small, delivering Skills for Life, NVQs and apprenticeships up to Level 5.
The service is principally funded by the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) and we are subject to inspection by OFSTED. Any curriculum areas that are not satisfactory are subject to re-inspection.
About the role
We are looking for a permanent part-time term time only (3 days a week, including 1 evening a week) Fractional English Tutor to work in a vibrant, expanding area of the Skills Team in Aylesbury and High Wycombe. The successful candidate will support adult learners, whose first language is English, (Entry 1 to Level 2) to improve their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills for work and/or home. You will be teaching in a variety of classes across High Wycombe and The Chilterns. You will report to a Course Co-ordinator and will be required to carry out other tasks to support the team and sessional tutors in your area.
Applicants must hold a subject specialism qualification (Level 4 or 5) and DTLLS/PGCE or equivalent.
