Portage Worker (Part-time)

This is part-time (30 hours per week) role based in the Children with Disabilities team in Children's Services covering Aylesbury and the north of the county.
The County Portage Team provides a specialist county wide service to children under 5 years old, with identified needs arising from a wide range of disabilities and developmental delay. The majority of the children supported are aged 0-3 years old.
About the role
The Service is monitored and service delivery is evaluated through analysis of data information, parental questionnaires from families receiving the service. The Portage Team work with the Portage Co-ordinator to develop procedures to improve the service.
You will work in the family home on a regular basis to teach parents/carers to develop their understanding of interaction, play and stimulation of children with a disability to support developmental milestones.
You will work alongside other agencies including education, health, social care and the voluntary and independent sectors through meetings and joint visits, fostering positive multi-agency working.
You will be responsible for managing a caseload of up to 17 children (pro-rata for part time hours). The vacancy covers the Aylesbury and North Bucks area.
You will have a NVQ Level 3 in Early Years and Child Care and Portage Basic Workshop (or willing to undertake Portage training).
You will need to be able to work independently from home, have access to a car and be able to store resources appropriately. ICT equipment is provided.
We are interested in applicants who have previous experience of working with children under 5 years old, preferably supporting those with additional and complex needs, and their parents/carers.
